Cortland Red KettlesDescription
The Salvation Army of Cortland has officially kicked off its annual Red Kettle fundraiser and Angel Tree program.
Money raised during the Red Kettle Campaign, and donations provided through the Angel Tree program, enable The Salvation Army of Herkimer to provide Christmas food baskets to approximately 100 families, and toys and winter clothing to approximately 250 children.
The Red Kettle campaign also bolsters The Salvation Army of Herkimer’s Food Pantry, Gleaning Program, and Community Meal Program. All donations collected during Salvation Army fundraisers like the Red Kettle campaign stay in Herkimer to help local families and individuals.
“We only have three weeks before Christmas and we ask the community to invest in our most vulnerable population.” Major Corinne
As the need for Salvation Army assistance has continued to increase due to current economic hardships, so has the need for volunteers.
“Volunteers are the backbone of The Salvation Army – the army behind the Army – and we cannot provide the services we do without volunteers coming along side us as partners in our mission of helping those most in need,” added Major.
