The Zonta Club of Cortland, which focuses on improving the status of women, announces the winner of its 46th Woman of Achievement Award, Amanda Giles.
Amanda is recognized for supporting women, children, and families through her business, CrossFit Cortland, where she has created a fitness community concerned with improving health and wellness while including children. Her gym not only employs several women as coaches and trainers, but also focuses on women’s health through exercise and nutrition. Entire families find exercise options and recreational events at CrossFit Cortland. In general, CrossFit as an exercise option features high-intensity workouts including calisthenics, weightlifting, indoor rowing, running, and swimming.
In addition, Amanda is involved in numerous fundraisers that benefit other individuals and organizations in Cortland including athletic teams such as Greek Peak ski team, Boy Scouts, and Little League. She is a great supporter of area women-owned businesses, collaborating with them on events and helping publicize their products and services, particularly those focused on nutrition and health.
Letters of support for Amanda’s nomination emphasized her dedication, interest, energy, and warmth. All mentioned her 20 years of service to the public as a NYS Trooper. Amanda and her husband also own Lift a Latte Cafe, and are residents of Homer where they are raising two sons and participating in school events.
